Usually a bit of magic is needed to finish a track. The process can often feel so random that you arrive at the destination as if magically transported there through means you can’t possibly explain.

It started with a chord progression I’d recorded on the piano sometime during the pandemic. During those lockdowns I heard about Holly Herndon’s Holly+ machine learning vocal interface. I fed my chords into her and it came back sounding like a choir of glitchy angels. Later I found a vocal sample from an obscure jazz record which fitted perfectly on top. A couple of years later I was playing the track live in Thailand at the Wonderfruit festival, when a percussion loop from the previous track kept running accidentally, creating a new groove and energy. Finally Magic Mountain was weaving its spell. 

Open Source is a track with some automation recorded in the same live show in Thailand. A track with those epic trancey ‚sky was pink‘ moments.

Wait for U is just a cute little song that came together quickly and says what it needs to say.
